Hotai yoxi passenger APP

Hotai Motor Co., Ltd. joined the competition of transportation services in 2020, aiming to become the ride-hailing giant in Taiwan. AJA became an important partner for both driver and passenger APPs, brand naming & slogan, and identity system. I am the only UX designer for the passenger APP.

Challenge

It was the first time I was solely responsible for designing an APP from scratch. I designed the structure of an app and built the UX guidelines. Since yoxi is a new brand, our team put a lot of effort into branding, including visuals, tone, video, and sound effects, to show its brand image: professional, personalized, and energetic.

Simplifying the process of calling a taxi

In most cases, calling a taxi is an immediate need. Thus, we compared competitors' flow of booking a car under different circumstances, such as editing destination by map or text, and skipping entering the destination. Accordingly, we designed a booking flow with the fewest steps to help users call cars as soon as possible.

Feature 1  Personalized ride preferrence

After interviews, we learned that the smell, temperature, sound, and conversation with drivers all influence user experience. During the onboarding process, we encourage users to set their ride preferences which can help the drivers to accommodate their needs in advance.

Feature 2  Favorite journey

For those who often travel back and forth between the same spots, they can save a journey between two spots. With just one click, users can call a car effortlessly without checking the pickup spot again.

Feature 3 Suggested pickup locations

When users go to an unfamiliar place without knowing correct address, yoxi would recommend recognizable pickup spots nearby to help users quickly pinpoint their locations.

Feature 4  Emphasizing crucial information

​It is very important to show the key information, especially when users are on the move. After the driver accepts the order, our APP shows the waiting time. Once the driver is close to the user, we enlarge the license plate number to help the user recognize the car.

Feature 5 Exporting trip history records

For those who don't have business accounts, the employers can multi-select their trips and export them as PDF files. In this way, they are able to request travel reimbursement without messy paper receipts.
